4 phases of "Perio"

Perio treatment has several phases:

• diagnosys and evaluation
• removing the cause
• repeated evaluation
• most important, maintaining stable and healthy parodont

Diagnose and treatment

In the first phase we need a complete diagnose, finding all the causes of illness, marking defects (illness consequences on the perio-chart, and their seriousness). Panoramic scan allows us necessary insight required for bone evaluation.

Removing the cause

In the second phase, all causes are removed. Teeth or root fragments, which are considered lost, are extracted. Complete hygiene of your mouth is performed; all the roots infected by the bacteria are polished and disinfected. Detailed explanation on the change of habits is strongly advised, which have contributed to development of disease. After removing the causes, waiting period is six weeks, so tissues are healed and recovered. In this phase you already feel great difference with the health of the teeth and the whole mouth; even though damage from disease is visible and sensible.

New evaluation

In the last phase, we work on recovering the damage done by the disease:

• search of the possibly infected zones, where the illness might still be active, and are surgically treated
• implants are used to replace lost teeth
• change of life habits, and maintenance of hygiene are advised

Maintenance

After finishing the treatment, maintaining a stable condition is the judging factor of long term health. Dentorium asks and reminds its patients for check up and teeth cleaning every six months, or shorter intervals if needed.
